London, March. 15 (PTI): In a new initiative to promote excellence in cricket writing, a website has set up three awards for budding writers in the game.

Announcing this here on Sunday, Vijay Rana, Editor, History Talking.com website, today said participants will have to write articles on the current India-Pakistan cricket series in not more than 500 words to win prizes which are Rs 25,000 (first), Rs 10,000 (second) and Rs 5,000 (third).

For those living outside India the prize money will be given in the US dollars, he said.

"We hope that the present India-Pakistan cricket series is going to be one of the most passionate contests since the 1932 bodyline series between England and Australia," Rana said.

"To celebrate the occasion History Talking.com has created a unique opportunity for those millions of cricket lovers who have a good understanding of the game and could write well but have not outlets to publish their stories," he added.

They can write on any aspect of the game, players profile or public mood, he said adding the deadline for the entries is April 19, 2004.

At the end of the series a penal of senior cricket journalists will judge and select the best entries and the award winners will be announced on the website on May 1.
